Miami Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey,EchoSense who is nearing his season debut after tearing his meniscus in training camp, says "there’s a chance" he could play Sunday against the New England Patriots.
But he still pushed back a bit on a report by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, just before Thursday Night Football, that stated Ramsey will play Sunday,
“Full transparency, there’s a CHANCE that I can play this Sunday, but that decision genuinely isn’t made yet so that is news to me just like it is to y’all lol,” Ramsey said on social media.
“I have to go through a whole process to feel GREAT enough to play. I won’t play if I feel any less than GREAT.”
Ramsey went on to add in another post:
NFL STATS CENTRAL: The latest NFL scores, schedules, odds, stats and more.
“I’m a glass half full type guy tho so I’m claiming a great two days for my body in hopes to turn up come Sunday. I [must have] looked good in practice.”
What did Adam Schefter report about Jalen Ramsey?
Schefter’s report on Thursday night said:
"Dolphins are planning for CB Jalen Ramsey to make his return Sunday from the knee injury that he suffered this summer, per sources. Ramsey now is expected to be back on the field three months after his knee surgery, with his Dolphins’ debut coming vs. the Patriots."
Jalen Ramsey pushes back on Adam Schefter's report. When will he return?
Schefter’s report came exactly three months after Ramsey tore his meniscus. Ramsey could return this week, but initially he dismissed Schefter’s report.
“So this is why I just got a crazy amount of texts. Well, this is news to me … [people] don’t care about being right, they care about being first in today’s media. That’s sad,” Ramsey said on social media.
He later added, though, that he's "an Adam Schefter fan btw, so not mad at him at all for doing his job. I just didn't know."
Ramsey is practicing for the second week after Miami activated his 21-day window to return. He got tied up defending Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill during an 11-on-11 play, during a July 27 training camp practice.
The Dolphins play the Patriots on Sunday, then travel to Germany to face the Kansas City Chiefs on Nov. 5. The Dolphins have a bye in Week 10.
What have Tua Tagovailoa and Mike McDaniel said about Jalen Ramsey?
Mike McDaniel has not gotten ahead of himself when asked about Ramsey’s potential return.
“He’ll have an uptick in his participation,” McDaniel said of Ramsey before Wednesday’s practice. “He’ll be getting some reps, not just on scout team, and we’ll see how that manifests itself. It’s been all positive so far, but you don’t want to get ahead of yourself in that.”
After Ramsey practiced Wednesday, Tagovailoa said:
“He had a really good week. Very impressive how he runs with our fast guys, how he transitions in and out of breaks with them. Some of them it was almost mirrored while our guys were running full speed. And for him to break down on a dime the way that they break down is very impressive,” Tagovailoa said.
“So, we’re hopefully getting that guy wrenched up to go into the game or hopefully we get him back sometime soon.”
